Greece, Cyclades Islands, Saros, Paros, Santorini, Folegrandros, Anafi

Delphi (Delphoi), Greece, sacred and classical historic site and major site for the worship of Apollo. Delphoi is also site of the Pythian Games similar to the ancient Olympics. A UNESCO world heritage site.

Air travel across the USA and flyover country, over the pond to Europe and then to Athens, Greece. From California, it took three flights via four airports over two days to just get to Athens. A Fourth flight from Athens to Santorini got me to my destination for this journey. The trip took me to five separate Cyclades Islands. To travel between the islands was by ferry boat. The boats were from small and a single car deck to massive, with multiple car decks, cabins, and reserved seating for first class. The best and more fun were those that served the little islands. Altogether, I rode six separate ferries from Santorini to the different islands and finally back to Piraeus, Athens' port. After disembarking, I rode the train to the motel near the Parathion, then via taxi to the airport, three planes and three airports to get home, then via Toyota back to Jackson. All told, I visited seven different airports, traveled by car, taxi, moto, ferry, train, escalator, regional jet, long-haul jet, domestic jet, foot, but not by donkey!

The historic walled monastery near the town of Distomo, Greece is one of the most important monuments of the middle Byzantine architecture and art whcih dates to the tenth century. It is a UNESCO world heritage site.

Wandering around the Mare 66 Resort on the Aegean Sea of Greece during a visit at the end of the season in September 2012 with my hosts the Bintas Family. Most shot with a point-and-shoot camera, the only limitation is my imagination. Miloje and I spent most on an afternoon and into the evening relaxing with our hosts with pleasant conversation. Being visual, I simply took the time to continue the creative bent and simply find what I could see. Showing the results on the back of the camera to my hosts was an eye opening of the beauty of the small details at which they look every day, but never take the time to see. It was a mutual pleasure for us all.

Trikala is a city in northwestern Thessaly, Greece and near the monasteries of Meteora. The Greek Orthodox monasteries of Meteora (middle of the sky) date to the 15th and 16th century and are of importance to the faith second only to Mount Athos. The six complexes are included on the UNESCO world heritage list.

Volos is a coastal port city in Thessaly, Greece and is the center of the story of Jason and the Argonauts of Greek mythology. On the hillside above is the small village of Makrinista.
