Amador's Serbian community celebrates Christmas 32 images Created 9 Jan 2011
Every January 7th you can count on hearing the explosion of firearms as Jackson and the Serbian community celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. It all began in the old country when people didn't have automobiles or telephones. The townsfolk climbed to the top of the hill and fire a couple of rounds in the air and the next village would do likewise. It was loud, crude and it worked! Today, the tradition continues here in Amador County.
