Vranje, Serbia dates back to Roman times in the 2nd and 1st centuries, BC and is located in southern Serbia. It is known for the White Bridge, a symbol of the city and named the "lovers bridge" for the tale of the forbideen love between a Muslim girl and Christian man resulting in the father killing the couple. He then built the bridge in remembrance... Vranje today is known not only for its bridge, but also for the 11th century Markova kula fortress above the town.
