The Alaska Highway Sign Post Forest started during the construction of the Alcan Highway in 1942. It now has more than 60,000 signs, most placed since 1988 when 6281 signs were counted. Included amongst the signs are hand-made signs, hub caps, tires, license plates, street signs, and custom-made signs.
