For 32 years, retired US Navy Chief Dick Hegg has run the Long Branch Saloon. Originally from New York, Hegg joined the Navy in 1942 and served until 1963. ..When Hegg started The Long Branch, the railroad still served Luning along with a trucking company, a mining assay lab and there were about 1500 people. Now the town's down to about 30, says Hegg. ..The Long Branch sits about 10 feet back from US 95 at the north end of town...Hegg lives nearby with his wife Tibby...release on file
