The deacons reading the scriptures during Badnjak (blessing of the Yule Logs) following Christmas Eve Vigil Service, St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, Jackson, Calif.

The logs (three) are from a young and strong oak and represent the Holy Trinity. Their burning represent the fire the shepherds built in the cave where the Jesus was born to warm baby Jesus and his mother Mary during that night.
