• Sveto Vaznesenje Serbian Orthodox Church built of stone in the late 17th century.

Church where Miloje's father was baptized--

Mokra Gora is one village but three mountains, one village but two churches-one in Krsanj, another in the centre of Mokra Gora. The first had been burnt down three times by the Turke and people of Mokra Gora persistently erected it from the ashes.According to oral tradition the church of Sveto Vaznesenje had been built at the end of 17th century, before the great migration of the Serbs, on a very hidden spot near the river Beli Rzav, surrounded by very high rocks on both sides. After the three burnings of the church in Krsanj, people of this village built a stone church that still esist and there is a valuable iconostasis from
the year 1849 with the icons painted in the same year. It's the icon of Jesus Christ, the big archpriest on the throne and the icon of Mother of God with Christ on the throne. People of Mokra Gora had been trying to build a church in Mokra Gora since 1876.
It is reported that the icone of Holly Mother of God had been brought from Krsanje to Mokra Gora three times, but all over again it returned by itself to Krsanje to the site of a fire, and not until 1945 Mokrogorci built the church and erected the paris home.

 • Moraca Monastery, Sinjajevina Mountains, 1252 AD--Mary and Jesus mosaic..Main chapel: Church of the Assumption, smaller chapel, Church of St. Nicholas with iconography depicting the life of St. Elijah..Serbian Orthodox monastery located in the valley of the Moraca River in central Montenegro. It is one of the most monumental orthodox Middle Age monuments in Montenegro. It was founded in 1252 by Stefan, son of Vukan Nemanjic, king of Zeta, the grandson of Stefan Nemanja in 1252. This is written above the western portal..It consists of an assembly church, devoted to the Assumption of Mary, a small church, devoted to Saint Nicola, and a lodgings for travelers. The main door has a high wall which has two entrances. The assembly church is a big one-nave building in the style of Raska churches. It is different from the seaside churches. The main portal is in the romantic style..Beside the architecture, its paintings are of special importance. There is one painting preserved from the 13th century with 11 compositions from the life of the prophet Elias. This painting is in much better condition than all the others from the 16th century. Other paintings were ruined in the first part of 16th century when the Ottomans occupied the monastery and devastated it. They also carried away the lead roof.

Serbian Orthodox monastery located in the valley of the Moraca River in central Montenegro. It is one of the most monumental orthodox Middle Age monuments in Montenegro. It was founded in 1252 by Stefan, son of Vukan Nemanjic, king of Zeta, the grandson of Stefan Nemanja in 1252. This is written above the western portal.
It consists of an assembly church, devoted to the Assumption of Mary, a small church, devoted to Saint Nicola, and a lodgings for travelers. The main door has a high wall which has two entrances. The assembly church is a big one-nave building in the style of Raska churches. It is different from the seaside churches. The main portal is in the romantic style.
Beside the architecture, its paintings are of special importance.
